For this project at a Swiss sugar factory, Liqson was engaged to provide a temporary storage solution that met several requirements:
- full compatibility with milk of lime
- constant mixing to prevent sedimentation
- fast installation and immediate availability
We supplied a single-walled mix tank in 316L stainless steel, a material particularly suitable for alkaline products such as milk of lime or calcium hydroxide.
The tank is equipped with integrated agitators that ensure product homogeneity throughout the storage period. Thus, quality remains constant when fed into the industrial process.
Calcium (di)hydroxide, also known as slaked lime, is an inorganic calcium compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)₂.
Our storage tanks
In addition, the tank was fitted with several elements for safe and efficient operation:
- Level measurement, for reliable monitoring of available volume
- Folding 45° stairs, for safe access during inspection and maintenance
- Folding railing, for extra safety when working at a height
The round shape of the tank also facilitates cleaning, which is important with products such as milk of lime that can leave deposits.
Increased safety thanks to collection basins
To further enhance safety, two PVC collection basins were installed:
- one under our tank
- one under the customer’s installation
This configuration provides maximum protection for both the environment and employees, and complies with strict site rules and local regulations.
Efficient and controlled installation
As with every project, our team took care of full, quick and perfectly coordinated installation in consultation with the customer. The system was quickly made operational, ensuring continuity of the production process.
