double-walled stainless steel tank for sulfuric acid 96-98%

Double-walled stainless steel tanks during repair work on customer’s storage tank.

This customer in Jemeppe was planning to carry out some repair work on their own storage tank and dosing installation. Their current tank was still filled with sulphuric acid 96-98%, so it needed to be emptied first.

Sulphuric acid 96-98%

Sulphuric acid is an inorganic acid with the chemical formula H2SO4. It is an acid that can be mixed well with water. Sulphuric acid is colourless and odourless. It is one of the most important raw materials in the chemical industry. It is a very hazardous liquid and must be stored in accordance with European standards.

Project:

The disposal of sulphuric acid is complex, unsustainable and comes with a high price tag. It was therefore decided to store this temporarily in a double-walled stainless steel (316) tank.

  • Fully double-walled construction
  • Multiple connection points
  • Digital instrumentation

This customer was already familiar with Liqson’s service and quality, so called upon it again.

Accessories:

Liqson was called in to provide the necessary accessories.

  • DN100 UPE venting hoses
  • PTFE diaphragm pump to pump the sulphuric acid.
  • DN50 PTFE hoses to pump acid
  • Coupling pieces and reducers for easy connection
  • Spill trays under the pump and flange joints

Thanks to the large stock of tanks and accessories, the customer was sure that Liqson could supply the necessary equipment on time.

Our stainless steel tanks are highly suitable for the storage of sulphuric acid 96-98%, however stainless steel is not suitable for long-term storage of sulphuric acid with a percentage below 96%. To ensure it stayed above 96%, the tank was dried on the inside for the project at Liqson.
