VLAREM-compliant
Renting VLAREM-compliant tanks in Belgium
At Liqson, we offer safe and flexible storage solutions for companies that need extra capacity quickly. Our double-walled tanks are suitable for the temporary storage of liquids and chemicals and comply with the applicable VLAREM guidelines in Flanders. This ensures a compliant solution without sacrificing speed or ease of use.
What is VLAREM?
VLAREM is short for Vlaams Reglement betreffende de Milieuvergunning, the Flemish regulations on environmental permits. Among other things, these regulations stipulate how companies must safely store liquids and hazardous substances.
For storage tanks, this often means requirements with regard to:
- Double-walled
- Leak detection
- Overfill warning
- Safe placement
- Environmental protection
Why is VLAREM important for companies?
Non-compliant storage can lead to safety risks, environmental damage or observations recorded during inspections. For these reasons, many companies opt for a temporary tank solution that immediately satisfies the required norms.
Furthermore, VLAREM-compliant storage is often important for insurance and environmental permit purposes. It not only reduce risks in inspections, but also avoids potential problems in cases of damage or permit applications.

FAQ
Does VLAREM apply throughout Belgium?
No, VLAREM only applies in Flanders. Different regional rules apply in Wallonia and Brussels. However, a VLAREM-compliant tank solution is often already a good basis for satisfying applicable safety and environmental requirements in these other regions as well.
Are double-walled tanks mandatory?
It depends on the stored product and the application. In many situations, double-walled tanks are mandatory or strongly recommended in order to prevent leaks and environmental damage.
Can Liqson deliver quickly?
Yes, depending on availability and location, we can frequently act quickly and deliver at short notice.
For what products are these tanks suitable?
Our tanks are used for chemicals, process liquids, wastewater, demineralised water and temporary buffering, among other things. We always consider which tank best suits your application.
Does Liqson also help with placement and connection?
Yes, not only do we supervise the delivery of the tank, we also think about its placement, connection and safe start-up on site.
Can I store hazardous liquids in a mobile or movable tank?
Yes, that is permitted, provided that the tank and its installation satisfy the applicable VLAREM conditions (such as collection, inspection and correct placement).
Does a mobile tank have to be VLAREM-certified?
The tank must be built in accordance with the applicable code of good practice and have a valid certificate of conformity or declaration of conformity. After the placement, a commissioning inspection is required.
What is the difference between a mobile, temporary and fixed installation?
No distinction is made here in terms of time. In principle, there is no difference between a mobile or fixed installation. If a tank is filled and emptied at the same location, it must satisfy the VLAREM regulations.
There are wheels (trailer/chassis) under the tank, must these also be VLAREM compliant?
Once a tank has been filled and emptied at the same location, it is considered to be a storage tank and must therefore be compliant. If it is a transport tank (filled, transported and then emptied at different locations), it must comply with the ADR (transport) regulations.
Is VLAREM also valid in Wallonia, the Netherlands or France?
The VLAREM regulations are specific to Flanders. However, the rules and practices are based on European norms and so there is a great deal of overlap. Liqson also offers compliant solutions for other countries.
