Temporary buffer tanks for drinking water

TEMPORARY BUFFER TANKS

A factory in Ghent had decided to install a new buffer tank (1,000 m³). Of course, the plant could not close during the changeover between the new and the old tank. The decision was therefore made to temporarily activate two Liqson buffer tanks. Liqson supplied two rental tanks with a drinking water coating and a float system.

CONNECTIONS

The necessary collectors, reductions and coupling pieces were provided to connect to the system. The collectors and couplings are made of stainless steel 316L as standard and were supplied with the correct seals.

Liqson also provided and connected drinking water hoses (2", 4" and 6").

Of course, these were tested and cleaned before installation. They were also flushed at the start of the installation.

The storage tanks served as a temporary buffer for both the drinking water and the extinguishing water for the sprinkler system. So water was taken constantly. The tanks were fitted with controlled high and low level cranes. As an extra protection against overfilling and problems during power outages, a mechanical float was also installed.

DRINKING WATER

This storage tank was used for the storage of drinking water. Before delivery, the material was professionally cleaned, dried and supplied with seals. The standard rubber seals were replaced by food seals. The two tanks were also fitted with vents that ensures that no insects can enter the tanks.

Liqson also ensured that chemicals were dosed on a regular basis to avoid giving bacteria a chance to grow.

COMMUNICATION

For this project, quick switching was very important. To keep the installation time as short as possible, the project was thoroughly discussed in advance. The customer experience combined with Liqson’s experience ensures efficient collaboration.

Liqson created a P&ID for this installation. This ensures the customer has a good solution and that nothing has been overlooked.
